I made a freedompop and ringplus tips and tricks and review video so they don't rip you off. They both are free phone services, but freedompop is more shady.

so i must have data enabled full time? what a waste of battery, i like to enable it just for check something on internet,
I hate charge the phone after 12 hours every day.
they should have provided the hability to receive calls via gsm at least.

FREEDOM POP does not have a cancellation department. Which means when they activate your phone they will charge you whenever the want and also not fix your service when it goes bad, which it most definitely will. They outsource their customer service to the Philippines and India. These foreigners dont understand English, and the do not care at all about America. FUK FREEDUMB POOP

Jason, i loved the part at the very end when you came to the realization you had no friends to call and it showed in your mannerisms. That didn't look staged and tickled me. Hope I'm laughing with you, not at you, as you aren't the only one so, no big deal….

A question: how do you like em now? After a little better than a year with Freedompop, I've found they're an absolute scam.

Thank you for mentioning you use Google Voice. I also use GV, and plan to use it on that phone to see how it works. Do you use the GV app on this phone?

It's because 4g is cheaper for all carriers and 3g is more expensive the only reason 3g is still provided is because not everyone's phones support 4g and some areas only have 3g coverage

Update:  I've been on my LG Viper BYOD for a few hours, now, with freedompop.  Some thoughts…the battery life is god-awful (just like you say in the video).  But the viper does have user-replaceable battery (critical for this service).  Sometimes the calls are low in volumn level.  I couldn't use the text at first.  Then I put an SD card in the phone and right after that the texting started to work.  Is there are relationship or just coincidence?  I actually had to call freedompop customer service before I successfully setup the phone because I was trying to type in my freedompop password on my android dialpad – which will NOT type letters…only numbers and symbols.  But the tech told me that I was doing it all wrong.  After you set up a freedompop service and pay your $20 bill then the next thing to do is get a google account on your phone (with wifi) and go to play store and download "freedompop messaging" FIRST (not the other apps with "freedom pop" in the name such as "my freedompop".  At that point it should work.  Then you can download "Myfreedompop" so you can keep track of your usage.  All-in-all I got more than my money's worth.  A great, free backup phone.  But I wouldn't  use it for my primary phone if you REALLY have to keep in touch reliably.
