15 Aug Landline Phones and the Future
With the advent of new technology, everything becomes smaller, faster and more mobile. Information and services can be received no matter where you are. This process is also a lot faster now than it was 10 years ago.
The need for information and communication to be faster gave way to the rise of new versions of cell phones, laptops, touch pads and the likes.
Now we ask this question: What will happen with landlines in the future?
To give you a straight answer, it will disappear if the landline companies won’t do something about it.
In this era that we are living now, there are a lot of better alternatives than using a phone.
A landline phone is usually used to communicate with someone or something. That someone or something can be a relative, friend or an automated voice program of some company. You can use it to order pizza or to access the customer service of your cable company.
It is mostly used as a tool for communication. It is the landline phone’s strength and is also the landline’s weakness. The landline is only used solely for communication and nothing else.
In this era that we are living now, all of the services of a landline can also be enjoyed in other alternatives such as cell phones, internet and touch pads.
But unlike landline phones, these other alternatives also have other functions that a landline can not offer.
Let’s take cell phones for example. Aside from giving you the convenience of communication, it also offers you the convenience of mobility. Cell phones nowadays also give you the option of having internet access everywhere.
The internet is also a threat for landline phones in the future. With the introduction of Facebook and other social networking sites, communication with loves ones is usually done over the internet.
Communicating over the internet is comparably cheaper and faster than that of a landline phone. It also gives you an option to see you who are actually corresponding to, thanks to video conferencing.
And with the advent of the laptops and touch pads, the benefits of having a desktop computer can now be experience even if you are on a park as long as it is a wifi hot zone.
But nowadays, it is uncommon to find a place that is not a wifi hot zone.
Everything is mobile, faster and cheaper now. Landline phones still remained to be the stationary communicating tool in households and offices. Perhaps there are still a few people who use landline phones. But if landline phone companies fail to adapt with the fast paced era that we are in now, landlines will indeed fall in the future.
That is if the landline companies wont do anything with either the design or the with features of the landline phones.
