I put mine underwater for 5 seconds to take a picture and the entire screen went black.

lol I dont entirely trust this… It isnt ur fault by any means at all… I had my S5 fall into my pool.. roughly 5' deep… It stayed on the entire time it was under water, but after it was removed (30 or so seconds), after a few mins… It shut down and never restarted.

Fuck water resistance/proof tests, stick it down a toilet full of piss and poo, that's where most of my phones end up.That would make a lovely video.

The reason its water resistant, is so when they explode, you can throw it under some water and it'd work afterwards

How do you charge or plug in the earphones when the bottom is wet? I mean does the charger and earphones jack are waterproof or water resistant as well?

last night my Galaxy S5 accidentally dropped into the toilet I quickly retrieved it, washed it off with hand soap and water and wrapped up in a dry face cloth for about ten minutes and I'm able to surf the Web, and it is fine. it's working! 🙂

I left mine in a heavy heavy rain with case and flickered the screen black but it ok after a little

  • Vince Del Fabbro

after I got mine I put it in the sink for about 3 hours to test it and it is still working…There is no rubber seal around the camera if you flip the exposed back case over so it worked with yours but i wasn't about to push my luck If you flip the back case over you will find a gasket protecting the vital phone parts so to all of the folks who had their phone die on them didn't have the back case on 100%, or have any part of the front surface,, which is raised slightly to what I assume is another seal, surrounding the front of the phone surface flt leaving it flat in any way, your phone will probably die. Somehow a little part of mine broke leaving that section just slightly exposed so I am not gonna do another water test because I know better.

I recently gave it the Ultimate water test completely unaware that it was a water resistant phone. I accidently dropped it into the sea. Nothing unusual about this you might think, but hang on… twenty feet of salt water! The S5 was lying on the sea bed in total 16 hours in which time the tide had risen and fallen twice. We have BIG tides, this one rising and falling twenty four feet, so this phone resurfaced twice. On the second occasion I walked down to the low tide mark, instantly found it, took it to a repair shop, to recover the Sim card only to experience a jaw dropping moment as it came to life as I was about to hand it over! So sure was I that it was dead that the same morning I had purchased the S6,which I now understand is not water resistant! Next purchase for me is another S5if I can find one…..its tried and tested 🙂
