A year ago in TLDR, we discussed whether or not Microsoft has made a huge mobile mistake. Thoughts?

Vista's biggest pitfall was marketing or lack thereof. Apple gold everyone it was crap and they didn't defend it. Vista wasn't fully baked yet when it was released but it was a great os.

Windows rt, behind the curtain, is the same as windows phone 8. I love windows rt btw. Its just not fully baked. The blue update will impress you unless you're just too jaded to appreciate it.

He you, the great professor. Have you heard about BootCamp and that all Macs can run Windows and Linux natively without need of VMs like Parallels?!? Next time do your research first before start posting b******s.

6:56 – "..a massive amount of space.” I guess anything over 256GB is a massive amount of space. Absolutely true if you’re an Apple fan-boy. Had to get used to the whole 16, 32, 64, and OH MY GOODNESS, 128GB storage capacities. Gotta pay top dollar for that type of space.

All in all, he’s no Jim Butterfield.

5:23 – The Surface was designed with touch in mind? You’re kidding…

6:26 – Yes, please upgrade to an SSD. And kiss one of the very few redeeming qualities of your glossy, chunk of plastic goodbye: the great battery-life. Once you upgrade your Apple product (which very easy could void your warranty) you will be coming down to the very low level of the non-ultrabook PCs.

4:30 – 5:28 Windows RT, Metro, and why Microsoft should have done /exactly/ what Apple did and just make the Windows Phone layout blown up onto a bigger screen? I thought that was what Microsoft /did/ with the Metro interface…I’m confused. Windows RT? You mean the underpowered, proprietary OS that only allows you to download and install software from their marketplace? I’ve never heard of a mobile OS like that before…hmmm. Isn’t that what Apple has been doing since….forever?

4:10 – “Oh, Android, you’re so hackable!” Apple: 17% smart phone market share. Android? 68% Which one do you think is going to have more attention for exploits. Only fools would assume it’s solely the shortcomings of an OS that creates vulnerabilities.

4:20 – YES, Bill Gates and Microsoft makes mistakes. Holy F, PC users have /always/ taken issue with Microsoft products. And again, look at the market shares.

:40 – Mac Book Air’s high-lighted features: Look at all the great VMs that you can install. You can almost pretend that it’s a real computer! The fact that parellels is so essential to the use of an Apple computer is evidence of its shortcomings.

3:38 – “Is everyone going to be releasing a tablet now? Seriously? Is this the thing?” — Wouldn’t it be great if Apple could patent the whole “tablet idea”. We would hate for the great innovators to have any competition.

no i think windows phone is a good OS just the one problem i have with it is that is so easy and very boring and it gets that way very quickly to me windows phone is just another version of iphone just made by microsoft and a lot of the OS's are starting to get boring even andriod like it's the same thing on every andriod phone out there just with touchwiz or htc sense still does the same thing so honestly windows phone just needs to up there tiles and going from windows phone 7 to 8 i don't

I think what Bill meant by mistake is with windows mobile, windows ce or maybe with windows phone 7 as well. They wasted years on those limited os before they finally moved to NT kernel (windows phone 8). So yeah, wasting valuable years is indeed a BIG mistake. But now with windows phone 8 (and windows blue coming), I think they finally did the right thing.

As a previous windowsphone owner (htc titan), I will say that they made several mistakes. The UI looks good, performance is good, but it is even more limited than the iOS, I have used android for most of the time and I found WP very limited. I had a hard time making changes to the device. The browser on WP is fast and fluid, but it is limited to ONLY 6 tabs, you cannot open more than that. It is terrible when it comes to support for different video formats and it lacks apps. A few mistakes
