Chrome OS and Chromebook is smart enough to know what its strengths are.

They are not going to make a model that charges $1800

They are going to make models that are cheap and yet offer basic functionality. More then you would expect for the price you pay!

Now I choose a hybrid [tablet+keyboard] with windows 8.1 Because of certain software I desire to run. So to me chromebook isn't the best option.

But if I didn't need that software, chromebook would have been cheaper! At least $125 cheaper for some lack in ability but close enough to do the job.

And that is it. I think ChromeOS and Chromebook has a function. It sits between tablets and cheap laptops. Its OS and its APPs means that you get allot of functionality that might not be 100% of what you require but it does more then you expect.

I wouldn't make the final documents on google docs. Let me say it that way, but for notes and simple documents it is powerful enough. And any mini laptop that plays Netflix is welcome!

So WindowsRT then? Yeah, yeah.. I never even thought to far about buying one of those. Being stuck with WindowsRT software isn't my idea of a good time. And again Chromebooks were cheaper!

Dad be so cool……just like son. 🙂   (Typed on my second Chromebook…the Acer 15.  Would prefer Toshiba 15 Chromebook, but not available…..yet! )  Still happy with my Toshiba 3.3…gen-1.

    Great vid., Chris.

the cloud is only as good if you have internet access. What if on moment you have a job and good internet access, then the next moment you don't have a job and have a hard time trying to find one. How will you access you stuff in the cloud and who knows what Zeus or the god of your choice or the government will do to your stuff.

The man points out a very valid problem with Cloud. Only FOOLS trust their entire computing experience to the cloud. Once those corporate cloud hosts start realizing they can charge you a subscription to your cloud services, and even one by one – say hello to very expensive computing! And your chrome book is a brick offline!
