Troubleshooting AT&T Phone: No Dial Tone | AT&T
Having trouble getting a dial tone on your AT&T phone line? We can help with that. If you’re unable to get a dial tone or make a call, try these troubleshooting tips.
Check that all the cords and wires for your device are undamaged and securely connected. If you have more than one telephone in your home, try another handset to see if you can get a dial tone.
If you can get a dial tone with another telephone, it may be the handset that is the problem.
You can also try restarting your Wi-Fi gateway. Be aware that your AT&T phone service will be interrupted during the restart of your Wi-Fi gateway, and you may experience a temporary disruption of other AT&T services.
To restart your Wi-Fi gateway, remove the power cord for seconds, then plug it back in. Be sure to push the plug securely into the socket. On average, it takes approximately 2 minutes for the Wi-Fi gateway to completely restart.
If you still don’t get a dial tone, plug your phone directly into the back of the Wi-Fi gateway. This may allow you to make and receive calls until the problem is fixed.
