Verizon HTC One Review

29 Oct Verizon HTC One Review

Lisa Gade reviews the Verizon Wireless version of the HTC One Android flagship smartphone. The One on Verizon is nearly identical to the Sprint and AT&T versions we reviewed. It has the same aluminum unibody construction with polycarbonate filling and it runs on the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 quad core 1.7GHz CPU with Adreno 320 graphics. It has 2 gigs of RAM and 32 gigs of storage. The HTC One is a global roamer that has both EV-DO 3G and LTE on Verizon and GSM and HSPA+ for roaming. The phone runs Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean with HTC Sense 5. It has a 4 Ultrapixel camera with HTC Zoe and a front 2.1MP camera.

Did you see the the woman pulled down the notification bar with 1 finger, and then push the icon in the top right hand side, you can eliminate that buy sliding 2 fingers down it will bring you straight to the display. Considering this phone is already using 4.4.2, if you can get someone to root your phone, then you could get sense 6
That is when your phone will change.

I have this htc one m7 phone but, are you aware that you can get it running 4.4.3 , km . and Sense 6, and that means it can do just about any thing, the newer m8 can do,
Apart from the two cameras on m8. When you gat it running at 4.4.3. With sense 6 you're screen size increase. Because you don't have that 1/4 inch black going across
The bottom with the return icon and the home button. Know the whole screen is lighting, and the little symbol like this < is return then you have the letters HTC and then the next icon that looks like a picture of a house that's got a couple of functions ,So if you got the new m8 and the m7 side by side the screens, from tip to tip not
Forgetting the m8 still has that 1/4 inch black across it's bottom, and the m7 has not the screens are the same, and m8 is still Inconveniencing taller because of the second camera, I think now that my m7 has the upgrades same screen size I would rather mine.

The major minus to the Verizon version is that there is no Power Saver mode.

I've been so happy with my MOTO RAZR MAXX, but I just got this offer to switch it…I'm getting tempted even knowing this HTC doesn't have micro SD card slot.
    What should I do !!!
    Thanks for the vid!

Strongly considering replacing my S3 (too many glitches) and this seems like a good replacement. I don't mind the HTC One not having a sim card since it has 32GB of storage. That's plenty for my needs. Too bad you can't change out the battery. That's the only drawback. Decisions decisions.

People that complain about the quick settings not there in 4.1.2 you can make a whole screen all those widgets. Not that big of a deal. That's what I've always done anyways. Keep profile gps and such on the page to the right.

This is a fantastic phone… I have one that's on AT&T and I am so aggregated that I don't have all the features that this phone has. However, my biggest problem with this phone is mediocre battery life and it takes forever to charge. 🙁

Just ordered mine last night! This is the first phone I've bought so far after the launch date and I've never been more excited. My iPhone 5, Nexus for and Galaxy S4 will be jealous.

The new iPhone 5 seems to use a 2amp charge mode not 1amp like older iPhones and iPad/iPod devices. Not sure if it would hurt my HTC 8x using it instead of my HTC 8x charge block. Maybe I wouldn't have to wait over 2 hours to get a charge.

HTC One is such a beauty. If HTC stays alive long enough to release the One Max, I'm buying one!

I have an LG Optimus Pro G but every time I hear the HTC One audio, I feel my bosom heave. And I'm a man, so that's saying something.

Thanks Lisa. I bought this phone on it's release date from VZW and I love it. I found it Viva Movil for $99.99. My son who is an Apple lover and has an IPhone 5 won't put my phone down when I get home from work. It's the first Android device that he readily admits to be superior to Apple. The 2gb of ram and 1.7ghz quad-core make this phone fly. Best part is that I haven't even rooted it yet!

No, using other chargers doesn't speed up charging (I use my GS4 charger on the HTC One all the time).

    can the bloatware be uninstalled?

  • Spider
    Posted at 11:34h, 29 October

Ouch, that's a big difference, but you probably use your phone much more than me. How bright is your screen usually? Do you use Bluetooth often? I manage to get a day and a half, but I keep my brightness at the lowest, and I only use bluetooth when in my car. I also use a battery saver app. I probably only give it about 2-3 hours of actual collective use during the day as well, but even without all those steps, the Samsung gives at least a day.

I have an HTC One and I manage to get 12-13 hours with moderate to fairly heavy use. It really is a fantastic phone, well worth a look.
