Verizon is bringing the hammer down on hardcore data hogs

16 Aug Verizon is bringing the hammer down on hardcore data hogs

Verizon is putting the hammer down on hardcore data hogs. Come this fall, if you’re a Verizon customer on an unlimited data plan who exceeds 100GB of data regularly, you can expect to be shut right off if you don’t cut it out or switch to a managed data plan. We’re not sure if Pokemon Go has anything to do with this, but we’re sure streaming videos is part of the problem.

Verizon says it will start sending out emails to small groups of customers asking them to migrate to one of its limited data plans, which top out at 100GB a month for $450. Verizon recently increased its unlimited data plan from just $30 for grandfathered customers to $50. That $400 gap probably has something to do with the crackdown.

Is this per line or per account? Because my family plan is unlimited data and the most any one person ever uses is 30 gb in a month but between all four of us we occasionally go over 100gb in a month. If it’s per line, it’s not a problem, but if it’s per account, that may be a big problem for my family.

Wanna know something secret (super super secret! jk). When you use your phone on someones network, it doesn't cost them any money. Like none. All they pay is the overhead cost of running power to the towers and (in some cases) the leases for the land. For instance, does it cost a radio station more money to broadcast the more people are listening? Of course not! They love more people listening! Same with wireless, except they charge you for ever gig you use.

So is it for people who are no longer under contract that are being contacted? I'm saying like if you upgraded your phone does that mean you basically renewed your contract for that period
