Thanks for the excellent review.. You did say that this phone only had 1.3 Gig worth of internal storage correct? This is the probably 6th place I have looked for that info and you are by far the best reviewer I have seen thus far.. You would think people would lead with that info about the internal storage since it can't be increased.. but thank you very much and if you could just verify that once more for me, I would greatly appreciate it..

Can't trust a brand that replaces Cs with Ks or self praises. Just my two cents, I've seen those kinds of phone start playing music or whatever when sleeping.

Deal? I'd rather buy a Nexus 7, more for the bang since I don't need a stupid overpriced smart phone…I use my dumbphone when I want to talk to people! what's the difference between talking on a smart and dumbphone…..nothing! And not get raped for data plan. Smartphone users are suckers. I'll take the power and high res display of Nexus 7 while you smartpgone users can keep squinting…

That's very good. But how come you never reviewed the Hisense Sero 7 Pro tablet? IMO, it is one of the 'bestest' 7 inch Android tabs available.

Yeah, Huaweis are pretty good… They're the middle ground of Chinese phones…. I had one, they're fairly good if you don't push them too hard. I would say they're better than the average Chinese phone. It even says on the back "Responsibly made in China", so it's not your average Chinese bomb… You just don't have to push them too hard, treat them with care, and they'll serve you well…. until you get a better one :D…

The Nexus 5 briefly appeared on Google Play before it was pulled. $350 for the 16 gig version.

The Nexus 5 was posted on Google Play Store for 349 today and then removed. Rut Roh one of there employees probably wanted to show off the phone early. Cnet is reporting "the Nexus 5 is as good or better then the iPhone 5S" wow even when the phone isn't even out yet, Cnet is already bragging how great it is.

Yeah, and US companies order everything from China and turn around and sell it to you. Hmm. Wow. educated, not.

Don't buy this phone. Trust me, I had a Chinese phone for the last 3 months, the exact same internals as this one, same chipset. It might seem cool and snappy here, but once you use it for a good chunk of time, you're gonna regret it. You pay less for a reason! It's gonna be sluggish or unresponsive exactly when you need it the most.

You would be better off spending an extra 80 bucks and getting a Nexus 4, or some other mid-range, cheaper, BRAND Android phone. It's a world of difference!

Check out MUI phones which are made in Taiwan and you can find them online cheap. There newest is the Mui 3 model. They had the fastest phone on the market before the iPhone 5 and Galaxy S4 came out, Qualcomm let them be the first to carry there new processors.

Chinese mfg's have real high end Android phones like from Oppo which is a well known company that makes audio equipment. And they also have Panasonic phones which we never see in the USA. Most of the Android phones from China are cheap under 200. Just weed through the mfg's that make crap phones. Have to be careful and educate yourself first.

You can get Android phones CHEAP on China Mobile store sites. I have to agree the prices they charge in the USA are ridiculous. Most of these "cheaper" Unlocked Android phones are bought from China and resold here.

I have not seen any good reviews on any BLU phones. Frankly hardly anyone knows them. There are a ton of off contract phones you can order online for under 200 and they will ROOT them for another 6 bucks so you can install any version of Android you want on it.

You can find a TON of off contract phones on Chinese Cell store websites. They also have a lot of older models such as Windows 7.

ya true, but i just recently read a article saying that google might keep the Nexus4 lineup as lower end model for there company & Nexus 5 will start around 299$ 16gb one

There is another unlocked phone that I think really competes, even with the Nexus 4. It's the BLU Life Play. US Company, 4.5 stars on Amazon. $225. It would be awesome if you did a review of it!

The Nexus 4 is out of stock and probably won't return to the Play Store (Nexus 5 is coming soon, and likely not that cheap).

the specs on this phone are awful
you can get a nexus 4 for the same price in the usa (at least thats what i was told) and has a lot more memory, better camera, better processor, more ram…

I'm glad you reviewing phones like this. I have thought about these low cost options and having someone with your experience trying out these phones can put the buyer at ease.

I'd like to see more competition at these prices. As your review noted you can get quite a bit of good phone for under 250. Maybe Samsung and Apple and the like see the switch to these competitive phones and offer us more competitive pricing ala the Nexus devices!

Have you reviewed any of the BLU phones?

One of our Australian carriers has an Android shop based relases here for $360 outright that inludes a protective case and expandable memory. A rugged water/dust resistant phone that I believe offers very good value.
